FYI Drewpie. The S58T was turbine powered. The S58 was the original piston slammer.
The ''T'' designates the turbine conversion
I am sure you knew that, just a slip.
And I do not know anything about the 500 building
No AIRWOLF does not count so dont even go there!
All current military helicopters are strictly turbine powered. However, the helicopters during the Korean War era (think if the tv show M.A.S.H.) were piston powered since tubines were way too big and inefficient to have been used on helicopters.
Rotor is are really ''rotary wing is some helicopter is have a form of turboprop engine known as a turboshaft. Some use piston engine is like in light aircraft adapted to helicopter use. Some have small jet engine is as assist engine's. The rotor blade is have nothing to do with powering any helicopter. Just the engine's
Really all of the current fleet military helicopters r both jet engined & rotor wing. There were some helos back in Vietnam that were rotary engine powered. The S-58T MiMi is was powered an 1100 hp wright rotary engine. But that 1950 is technology. All of the current fleet r turbine (jet) powered. Current turbine powered helos include all of the S-60 varients such as the Blackhawk, Jay-hawk, others.
Kiowa, Apache, Lil-bird, Seaknight, UH-72A Lakota, Chinook, many others.

All rotors are driven by engines. ~
There are jet turbine and combustion engine powered ones and there are a few that have small jet engines at the rotor wing tips.
There are no 'rotor powered' ones.
There are also gyro copters. They are auto rotating, driven by the wind flow and pushed by a regular propeller.
